Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Family Law Paralegal/Assistant to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will assist attorneys in various family law matters, including divorce, child custody, modifications, dependency, adoption and domestic violence. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a thorough understanding of family law procedures. The Family Law Paralegal will play a crucial role in supporting our clients through complex legal processes while ensuring compliance with all legal standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file legal documents related to family law cases, including petitions, motions and discovery requests.
- Conduct legal research using platforms such as Lexis-Nexis and to support case preparation.
- Assist attorneys in interviewing clients and witnesses to gather relevant information for cases.
- Maintain organized case files using iManage and other document management systems to ensure easy access to information.
- Draft correspondence and communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel as needed.
- Manage deadlines for filing documents and ensure timely submissions in accordance with court rules.
- Assist with estate planning documents and matters related to law when necessary.
- Support attorneys in trial preparation by organizing, marking and uploading exhibits, preparing trial binders, and summarizing case files.

- Proficiency in document management systems, particularly iManage.
- Strong research skills using Lexis-Nexis and for effective case analysis.
- Excellent interviewing skills to extract pertinent information from clients and witnesses.
- Knowledge of family law procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients and legal professionals.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
