Per Diem Physician (MD/DO) – VA Disability Exams (TBI) | 3 Days/Week | Evaluation-Only Role

We are seeking a board-certified Physician (MD/DO) to perform VA Disability Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans. This is an outstanding opportunity for physicians looking to supplement their current practice with flexible, evaluation-focused work that has no ongoing patient management, no prescribing, and no treatment responsibilities.
In this role, you will conduct comprehensive disability assessments for Veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and neurological conditions. Your objective medical evaluations help the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs determine disability benefits. The examiner does not make disability determinations.
This is primarily an in-person position with potential telehealth opportunities based on operational needs.

Responsibilities
- Review medical records, service treatment records, prior examinations, and supporting documentation before each evaluation.
- Perform comprehensive Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans.
- Complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and Medical Opinions (MOs) using the electronic medical record system.
- Explain the examination process and confirm claimed conditions with each Veteran.
- Administer and interpret the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) when appropriate.
- Submit completed examination reports within 24–48 hours.
- Analyze medical evidence and provide objective medical opinions in accordance with VA guidelines.
- Participate in telehealth examinations when requested, including assisting Veterans with basic technology troubleshooting when needed.
- Maintain professional communication and ensure a respectful, compassionate experience for every Veteran.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Active, unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state
- Board Certified in one of the following:
- Neurology
- Neurological Surgery
- Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R/Physiatry)
- Physicians who have completed a two-year residency in one of the above specialties may also be considered.
- Psychiatrists may be considered on a case-by-case basis and are subject to Medical Director approval.
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and critical thinking skills
- Experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently while meeting documentation deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to providing compassionate care to Veterans
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous clinical experience evaluating neurological or traumatic brain injury conditions
- Prior experience performing VA Disability, Compensation & Pension (C&P), Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs), or disability evaluations
- Experience completing Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and Medical Opinions (MOs)
- Comfortable providing both in-person and telehealth evaluations
