JOB DESCRIPTION & DUTY STATEMENT POSITION: Clinician/Associate Clinician
STATUS: Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Clinical Director
DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Associate Clinician is responsible for providing therapeutic and case management services to Clients with a primary diagnosis of substance use disorder. The Clinician/Associate Clinician shall cooperate as a team member in the provision of a therapeutic environment that encourages each Client’s emotional growth. The Clinician/Associate Clinician maintains a caseload as assigned by the Clinical Director, and performs various clinical functions such as group counseling, individual therapy, treatment planning, case management, intake assessment, discharge planning, and other clinical functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Registered professional with 1+ years’ experience in individual and/or group therapy.
2. 1+ years’ experience of substance use disorder treatment preferred.
3. Master’s Degree or higher and working toward licensure. Must be registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or similar approved agency.
4. Current T.B. Clearance (Negative PPD Skin test) renewed annually.
5. Current CPR First aid, renewed every 2 years.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides therapy to adults with substance abuse problems
- Determines causal relationship between substance addiction, socio-economic factors and personality traits
- Coordinates with other treatment team members when specialized services are required
- Works cooperatively with community agencies in the coordination of rehabilitation services for clients
- Reviews case records and refers clients to medical or psychiatric services as appropriate
- Facilitates group therapy with supervision utilizing evidence-based practices
- Provides individual therapy sessions, crisis sessions, discharge sessions, and family sessions as indicated
- Participates in the evaluation of therapy methods for the effective treatment of substance use related problems
- Prepares correspondence and reports as required for supervisor
- Properly documents client’s progress on charts and produces quality documentation in a timely manner
- Manages a client caseload including individual sessions, family correspondence, case management/referrals, treatment planning, discharge planning, utilization reviews, and assessments
- Assists in coordinating and synchronizing substance abuse and service plan issues
- Meets with supervisor to report observations and reactions to clients and to review clients progress and participate in file reviews and audits
- If licensed, may review charts and review sign unlicensed professionals completed medical records
- Maintains appropriate records in a confidential and timely manner as specified by program and follow all credentialing agency requirements, program policies and procedures and HIPAA, 42 CFR and Title IX Requirements.
