Job Overview
The Community Engagement Associate supports the Director of Community Activities and Wellness in coordinating meaningful in-house and community-based events and programs that strengthen connections among residents, shelter guests, volunteers, community partners, and supporters of Abby’s House. This part-time position plays an important role in cultivating and maintaining community partnerships, assisting with event planning and execution, supporting programming, and providing hands-on operational support for activities and special events.
The ideal candidate is organized, community-oriented, adaptable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced nonprofit environment. This individual will also provide leadership and guidance to volunteers and student interns while helping foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for the Abby’s House community.
Responsibilities
- Coordination and execution of aspects of food & nutrition programming including food donation pick up, receipt, and storage.
- Participate in the planning and coordination of Abby’s House events. Internal events include holiday meals, board meetings, and after-hour programming. External/community events include the annual meeting, the Strawberry Social, Daybreak Luncheon, and any other events involving community partners.
- Assist with other Women’s Center programming including food pantry and personal care pantry.
- Manage and maintain the Women’s Center programming schedule and calendar.
- Create and distribute flyers and information regarding Women’s Center events.
- Maintain attendance logs/ tracking for Women’s Center events.
- Represent Abby’s House at community facing events, tables, or other public opportunities.
- Cultivate relationships with community members, partner agencies and volunteers to support our programming at Abby’s House.
- Provide support for Director of Community Activities and Wellness in training residents participating in our Resident Training program.
- Serve as a liaison for residents and guests regarding programming in the Women’s Center.
- Attend monthly Community Huddles to respond to any programmatic suggestions and to relay information about upcoming events to the Abby’s Community.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and annual evaluations and be committed to ongoing growth and improvement in the position.
- Maintain the standards of Abby’s House and exemplify compassion, hospitality, and respect to Abby’s residents and guests.
- Perform additional tasks as necessary.
Skills
- Ability to lift up to 40+lbs
- Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Must have a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle that can be used during work hours.

Pay: $24.50 - $28.00 per hour
