Job Title: Zinc plating Line Operator
Department: Metal Finishing / Surface Treatment
Reports To: Production Manager
Responsibilities
- Operate plating line equipment including tanks, rectifiers, and rinse stations
- Load and unload steel parts onto racks or fixtures for processing
- Monitor plating tanks for proper temperature, voltage, and chemical levels
- Perform surface preparation such as cleaning, pickling.
- Control plating cycle times and electrical current according to specifications
- Rinse and seal parts after plating to complete the finishing process
- Inspect finished parts for color consistency, coating thickness, and defects
- Record production data and maintain process logs
- Maintain cleanliness and safety around chemical tanks and equipment
- Follow OSHA and company safety procedures when handling acids and chemicals
Daily Tasks
- Check tank chemical levels and temperatures
- Start and monitor the anodizing process
- Adjust voltage/current settings on rectifiers
- Perform basic equipment troubleshooting
- Move racks using hoists or conveyors
- Inspect parts using gauges or visual inspection
Required Skills
- Basic machine operation and mechanical ability
- Ability to follow technical process instructions
- Knowledge of safety procedures for chemicals and acids
- Attention to detail for quality control
- Ability to lift 25–50 lbs and stand for long periods
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience in metal finishing, electroplating, or anodizing
- Basic understanding of chemistry or electrical current control
- Forklift or overhead hoist experience (sometimes required)
Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing facility
- Exposure to acid tanks, water rinse systems, and electrical equipment
- Requires PPE such as gloves, goggles, face shields, and chemical-resistant clothing
Pay: From $16.75 per hour
