As a member of the accounting/reporting team, the Staff Accountant holds responsibility for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial information, as well as analyzing and interpreting the information detailing assets, liabilities and capital to ensure that senior leadership has accurate information to make sound business decisions. This individual will effectively exhibit JD Finish Line’s core values of Customer, People, Winning, Community, and Financial Responsibility in everything they do by performing the following key duties:
- Reconciles and balances general ledger accounts.
- Prepares and enters journal entries.
- Researches and corrects account discrepancies.
- Performs various accounting/analytical projects assigned by management.
- Assists in month end closing activities and year-end audit work.
- Assists in preparing financial packages.
- Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
- Reports organization's finances to management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
- Additional duties and projects as required.
Required Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or related major, with a CPA Certification preferred; and 1 - 2 years’ professional experience in accounting preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Retail accounting experience is a plus. Internal JD Finish Line experience strongly preferred.
Required Computer and/or Technical Skills
Should have basic to intermediate knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or Google Suite equivalents, as well as basic familiarity with financial systems and accounting software.
