Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team at our long-term care facility. As a CNA, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and assisting residents with their daily activities to ensure their comfort, dignity, and well-being. You will work closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care:
- Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs), such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
- Help residents with mobility, including transfers, walking, and repositioning in bed.
- Provide basic care to residents with medical conditions, such as taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration rate), monitoring blood pressure, and recording health information.
- Assist with the application of non-sterile dressings, wound care, and other non-invasive procedures as directed by nursing staff.
Resident Support:
- Encourage residents to engage in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities to promote mental and physical well-being.
- Observe and report changes in residents' condition, including physical, emotional, and behavioral changes.
- Maintain open communication with residents, family members, and the healthcare team regarding care plans and any concerns.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Document daily care activities, observations, and resident progress according to facility policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of treatments, medications, and other patient information in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Report changes in resident health or behavior to the nursing team or supervisor immediately.
Hygiene and Infection Control:
- Adhere to infection control procedures to prevent the spread of diseases and maintain a clean and safe environment for residents.
- Assist with housekeeping tasks related to patient care, such as making beds and ensuring cleanliness of personal care items.
- Follow facility protocols regarding hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE), and cleanliness standards.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with nurses, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans.
- Participate in team meetings and provide input regarding patient care needs and goals.
- Follow established care plans and assist with any changes or updates as directed.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Current state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
- Experience: Previous experience in a long-term care, rehabilitation, or healthcare setting preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to follow care plans and instructions accurately.
- Good observation skills to identify changes in residents' condition.
- Physical stamina to assist residents with mobility and perform duties such as lifting and standing for extended periods.
