Job Summary
The VP serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and works closely with the President and CEO, senior colleagues, and board members to provide guidance and share information regarding their area of expertise. Responsible for maintaining the financial health and assessing the future needs of the agency, anticipating changes in the operating environment, and implementing changes, in collaboration with senior management team. The VP of Finance is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and coordination for financial administrative services.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement organizational strategy and financial goals
- Lead long- and short-term financial planning
- Provide financial insight, forecasting, trend analysis, and scenario planning
- Advise the CEO and Board on financial performance and key business decisions
Financial Management & Oversight
- Oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, payroll, and reporting
- Manage general ledger, cash flow, payables, inventory, and financial records
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and manage risk
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and grant funding requirements
- Oversee audits, tax filings, insurance programs, and treasury functions
- Monitor investments and Board-designated funds
Budgeting & Reporting
- Lead development and oversight of the annual budget
- Provide monthly financial reporting and budget analysis to department leaders
- Prepare financial reports for executive leadership, committees, and Board meetings
- Deliver data insights on service volume, visits, and organizational performance
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, grant, and funding requirements
- Manage external relationships with auditors, banks, investment advisors, and agencies
- Oversee 403(b) retirement plan financial transactions
- Participate in contract negotiations and vendor management
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
- CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred
- 7–10+ years of senior-level experience in nonprofit financial management
- 7–10+ years of leadership and supervisory experience
- Experience in nonprofit healthcare and medical billing environments preferred
Skills & Expertise
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting and financial reporting standards
- Experience with financial systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, ADP) and MS Office
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and strategic thinker
- Knowledge of reproductive health or family planning a plus
Pay: $105,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
