Duties
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry equipment, promptly identifying any abnormalities or emergencies.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, following aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and patient assessments to determine care needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with patient goals.
- Document all patient interactions, treatments, and observations thoroughly in electronic health records (EHR systems) such as Epic or Cerner.
- Assist with procedures including IV insertion, suturing, catheterization, and tube feeding while maintaining sterile technique.
- Educate patients and families on post-discharge care, medication management, and health coaching strategies.
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state registration.
- Critical care experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma center settings preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; experience with medical documentation is essential.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to acute care environments.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, and individuals with disabilities.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure during emergency response procedures such as airway management or trauma medicine.
