Overview
Operating Room Nurses (OR RNs) care for patients before, during, and after surgery and assist the surgeon in procedures. The OR RN provides direct and individualized care to patients. OR RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications
- Coordinate with medical team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Create and maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment
- Conduct pre- and post-operative education
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
- At least one year of perioperative nursing experience in a trauma-level I hospital setting
- Valid RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact (eNLC) RN license
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in an acute operating room setting
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Strong understanding of AORN Standards
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
- Effective application of nursing techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team providing specialized care
- Basic computer skills
- Commitment to a 13-week assignment with potential extension
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical records (EMR)
