The role
Caesar Engineering is a lean civil and structural firm serving municipal agencies, private developers, and institutional clients from the Greater NYC area to the Capital Region. We're bringing on a licensed P.E. to own a real book of structural and engineering consulting work — stamped drawings, master planning engagements, field observations, and technical leadership — from day one. This isn't a support role. You'll hold the pen on your projects and have direct access to both principals.
Our work spans two modes: production and advisory. On the production side, you're designing and stamping plans and projects. On the advisory side, you're helping government and private clients think through building programs, strategy, feasibility, climate resilience, and long-range capital planning. Both tracks matter equally here, and the best candidates will be comfortable moving between them.
Our design work happens remotely. Our fieldwork happens in person. Most weeks that means one or two days in the corridor between New York City and Albany — site visits, structural observations, construction-phase coordination. The rest of your time is yours to manage from wherever you work best.
What you'll own
Structural design & production
- Prepare, stamp, and seal structural drawing sets and calculations under NYS regulations and applicable building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NDS)
- Lead structural design across steel, wood, concrete, and foundation systems — including pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB)
- Conduct forensic assessments of existing and distressed structures; prepare engineering reports and remediation recommendations
- Perform field site visits and structural observations within the NYC–Albany corridor — personal vehicle required
- Review and respond to RFIs, shop drawings, and submittals during construction
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to integrate structural systems into overall project designs
Consulting & master planning
- Support building feasibility studies and capital planning assessments for municipal, county, and private-sector clients — evaluating structural condition, program fit, and cost trajectory
- Contribute to master planning engagements that include building programming, design concept development, and phased implementation strategies for government and institutional clients
- Author technical sections of planning reports, feasibility memos, and client-facing deliverables that translate engineering findings into actionable guidance for non-technical decision-makers
- Support RFP scope development and cost estimating in coordination with project leads for both public procurement and private engagement
Project Ownership & Delivery
- Own the full lifecycle of assigned projects—managing schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables while serving as the primary point of contact for clients and principals.
- Participate in municipal planning board proceedings — prepare presentation materials and attend board meetings to support project approvals
- Maintain high technical standards through thorough review of project documentation and calculations
