Lead Two-Year-Old Teacher
Position Summary
St. Andrews Preschool is seeking an experienced, dependable, and nurturing Lead Two-Year-Old Teacher to join our teaching team.
This position is intended for experienced early childhood educators who view teaching as a profession and have demonstrated success leading classrooms, partnering with families, and supporting children's development.
The Lead Teacher serves as the primary classroom teacher and is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences, maintaining classroom management, ensuring licensing compliance, building positive relationships with families, and creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children.
The Lead Teacher is expected to provide leadership within the classroom, maintain daily routines and structure, support assistant teachers, and ensure the classroom operates effectively, professionally, and in compliance with all licensing requirements.
The Lead Teacher reports directly to the Assistant Director and Executive Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and learning experiences for two-year-old children.
- Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, engaging, and organized classroom environment.
- Maintain active supervision of children at all times.
- Foster children's social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development.
- Establish and maintain consistent classroom routines and expectations.
- Implement positive behavior management strategies and support children's self-regulation skills.
- Build positive relationships with children and families.
- Communicate professionally with parents regarding their child's development, behavior, and daily activities.
- Conduct parent conferences and participate in family engagement activities as assigned.
- Complete daily classroom documentation and required records.
- Prepare and implement lesson plans and classroom activities.
- Complete developmental assessments, observations, and progress documentation as required.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards.
- Ensure compliance with all Bright from the Start regulations and center policies.
- Collaborate effectively with assistant teachers and other staff members.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, family events, field trips, and special programs.
- Assist with summer camp activities and center-wide events as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
- Perform additional duties assigned by administration.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a closely related field required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a closely related field preferred.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Lead Teacher in a licensed childcare center, preschool, private school, or educational setting required.
- Experience independently managing a classroom as the primary teacher required.
- Experience creating and implementing lesson plans required.
- Experience conducting classroom observations, developmental assessments, and parent communication required.
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with families and coworkers.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Georgia Bright from the Start licensing regulations preferred.
- Experience with Brightwheel or similar childcare management software preferred.
- Must successfully pass all required criminal background checks.
- CPR and First Aid Certification required within 45 days of employment.
- Completion of all required state training requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field.
- Experience working specifically with two-year-old children.
- Experience implementing curriculum and school readiness practices.
- Experience preparing children for successful transition into preschool and pre-kindergarten programs.
Schedule
- Full-Time Position
- Monday – Friday
- Typical Schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
- Additional hours may be required for staff meetings, professional development, family events, and special programs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move throughout the classroom and playground.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, squat, and actively engage with young children throughout the day.
- Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
