Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Insurance Verification Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of health insurance policies, medical billing procedures, and electronic health records management. Crucially, the ideal candidate must have hands-on experience navigating the complexities of both in-network and out-of-network (OON) insurance benefits.
As an integral part of our administrative staff, the Insurance Verification Coordinator will ensure accurate verification of patient insurance coverage, facilitate seamless communication with insurance providers, and support the overall efficiency of our clinical operations. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care through meticulous insurance processing and compliance with confidentiality standards.
Duties
- Verify out-of-network (OON) patient insurance coverage accurately by reviewing managed care plans, health insurance policies, and medical records within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Determine and explain OON details, including out-of-network deductibles, reimbursement rates, co-insurance percentages, out-of-pocket maximums, and superbill requirements.
- Communicate effectively with patients to clarify coverage details
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of insurance verification activities in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure that all insurance information is current and correctly entered into the EMR/EHR system.
- Support office operations by verifying coverage for both outpatient services.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a medical office setting with familiarity in insurance verification processes.
- Direct, proven experience verifying and managing out-of-network (OON) insurance benefits.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) or electronic medical records (EMR) management systems.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple verification tasks efficiently.
- Strong ability to clearly and empathetically explain out-of-network financial responsibilities to patients.
- Experience in a healthcare setting that involves insurance verification or claims processing is highly desirable.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
