Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, clinically skilled, and experienced North Carolina Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our growing outpatient behavioral health practice. The LCSW will provide high-quality psychotherapy and behavioral health services while providing clinical supervision and oversight for Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associates (LCSWAs) and social work interns.
The ideal candidate is committed to ethical, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based care. This role is responsible for supporting supervisee development, maintaining appropriate clinical oversight, and ensuring supervision and documentation practices align with North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board requirements, applicable payer requirements, and organizational policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Direct Clinical Services:
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic evaluations, risk assessments, and individualized treatment plans.
- Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy within the scope of North Carolina LCSW licensure.
- Deliver evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive behavioral health interventions.
- Assess and address clinical risk, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, homicidal ideation, abuse or neglect concerns, substance use, psychiatric decompensation, and crisis needs.
- Coordinate care with psychiatric providers, primary care clinicians, hospitals, schools, community agencies, and other treatment team members, as clinically appropriate and authorized.
- Maintain accurate, timely, complete, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record.
- Provide referrals and coordination for higher levels of care, community resources, specialty treatment, and supportive services when indicated.
Clinical Supervision and Oversight:
- Provide clinical supervision to LCSWAs working toward independent clinical social work licensure in North Carolina.
- Provide field instruction, mentorship, and clinical oversight to social work interns in collaboration with their educational institution and internship requirements.
- Maintain active eligibility and approval to provide clinical supervision under North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board requirements.
- Establish written supervision agreements, clear expectations, learning objectives, supervision schedules, and documentation standards.
- Provide individual and/or group supervision as permitted and required by North Carolina regulations and the supervisee’s licensure pathway.
- Review and provide feedback on clinical assessments, diagnostic impressions, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, safety plans, and other clinical documentation completed by supervisees.
- Offer case consultation regarding complex clinical presentations, treatment planning, ethics, confidentiality, boundaries, mandated reporting, crisis response, and coordination of care.
- Monitor supervisee caseloads, clinical performance, scope of practice, professional conduct, and patient safety.
- Maintain accurate supervision documentation, including dates, duration, format, content, supervisee progress, and any performance-improvement or remediation plans, consistent with North Carolina Board requirements.
- Complete required verification, evaluation, and licensure documentation for supervisees accurately and within required timeframes.
- Promptly communicate significant clinical, ethical, safety, documentation, or performance concerns to practice leadership and take appropriate corrective action.
Quality, Compliance, and Collaboration:
- Comply with North Carolina laws and regulations, North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board rules, NASW ethical standards, HIPAA, payer requirements, and practice policies.
- Participate in clinical case consultation, interdisciplinary meetings, peer review, staff education, and quality-improvement activities.
- Assist with development and implementation of clinical policies, workflows, supervision procedures, and training materials.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, collaborative, and patient-centered practice culture.
- Participate in outreach, program development, and community partnership activities as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program.
- Current, unrestricted North Carolina LCSW license in good standing.
- Meets North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board requirements to provide clinical supervision to LCSWAs.
- Minimum of two years of post-LCSW clinical social work experience, or otherwise meets current North Carolina requirements for approved clinical supervisors.
- Prior experience providing clinical supervision, field instruction, or professional mentorship preferred.
- Demonstrated competence in outpatient psychotherapy, clinical assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, risk assessment, and clinical documentation.
- Knowledge of North Carolina reporting requirements and ethical/legal obligations related to patient safety, abuse and neglect, confidentiality, and duty to protect.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, clinical judgment, and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and telehealth platforms.
Preferred:
- 2 years of post-full licensure supervision experience preferred
- Experience with telehealth and in-person outpatient therapy
- Familiarity with CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, or other evidence-based modalities
- Bilingual capabilities are a plus
- Couples &/or Marriage counseling are a plus

Schedule:
- Flexible, part-time or full-time 1099 independent contractor schedule
- Open to availability during the week
- Weekday evening and weekend availability strongly preferred and desired
