Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, and electrical systems for heavy trucks and industrial equipment.
- Must have a Valid CDL A or B and be and be willing to be trained as a back up Ready-mix Driver if needed from dispatch. Cross training in most departments is required.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, alignment, shocks & struts replacement, and HVAC system servicing to keep vehicles operating at peak efficiency.
- Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and automotive diagnostics tools to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding and power tools to ensure proper fitment and function of repairs.
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other farm or industrial machinery safely and efficiently during maintenance or repair tasks.
- Perform vehicle inspections for fleet compliance with safety standards; repair or replace worn-out parts to prevent breakdowns.
- Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and inspection logs to ensure transparency and accountability for all maintenance activities.
Experience
- Proven dealership experience or extensive background in heavy truck repair and diesel mechanics.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery.
- Familiarity with schematics, automotive electrical systems repair, hydraulics, air brake systems, suspension alignment, and power tools usage.
- Experience with automotive diagnostics software and electronic troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to perform welding, fabrication, tire service, vehicle assembly, equipment repair, and general maintenance tasks efficiently.
- Hands-on experience working with Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment brands is highly desirable.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
