Electrical Engineer
Obayashi Corporation is seeking qualified candidates for an Electrical Engineer position. Obayashi Corporation has an excellent career opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to work for our Guam projects sites all over the island. The successful candidate should be a highly motivated individual and have enough experience of supervising construction works such as electrical and telecommunication works, dry utility Installation, and site coordination of MEPF trades.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Supervises Electrical Engineering Works (Electrical Distribution, Power Systems, Lighting, and Control Systems, and Testing & Commissioning) including installation of electrical systems for Mechanical, Civil, and Plumbing works. Coordinates with the site installation team on the appropriate materials needed for field installation.
- Reviews approved/conformed plans, specifications, and other technical documents related to electrical systems and components.
- Provides quantity take-offs for materials required for electrical installations, based on approved designs, specifications, and conformed drawings.
- Communicates and follows up with vendors and subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate electrical system installations. Makes a good coordination with all trades at site to prevent any scope gap, especially on MEPF works and Architectural works.
- Tracks and monitors project progress, especially that related to electrical works, analyzing deviations, and recommending corrective actions to meet project timelines.
- Learns and practices basics of other disciplines, especially highly related to electrical, such as mechanical, plumbing and fire suppression works. Also, learns and practice basics of project management, including quality control, environmental control and safety control.
- Prepares and submits Requests for Information (RFI) to the Owner to clarify electrical and other related system requirements and specifications.
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience
- Graduate of a 4-year accredited college or university program in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or Project Electrical Engineer on construction contracts.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Must be able to pass a background check for access to US military facilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- A valid US driver’s license and satisfactory driving record are required. For foreign applicants, a valid driver’s license with more than 5 years of satisfactory driving record is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Local candidates from Guam and the CNMI.
- Previous experience working on projects for Department of Defense agencies (NAVFAC, USACE, etc.).
- Must be organized with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic.
- Competency in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, or similar electrical design software.

About Us
Obayashi Corporation is the only Japanese general contractor that has been operating in the United States and Canada for a long time, notably since receiving our first tunneling project in San Francisco, CA in 1982. We currently have several tunneling projects as well as some CM/GC (Construction Manager and General Contractor) type contracts in the states. We have completed many projects in the region during our 40-plus year history, including the historic Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge mentioned above.
