La Vida Charter School desires to hire a full time enthusiastic high school teacher who could be characterized as an intellectual camp counselor. Candidates should possess single subject or a multiple subject credential and have an area of specialty. This individual ought to be a creative, fun loving, organized, deeply committed to understanding and engaging each student, as well as being computer proficient, efficient with paperwork, willing to collaborate with parents and faculty and embrace the school’s charter.
La Vida Charter School offers an innovative hybrid program that is child centered, strengths based and collaborative, working closely with parents and students. Integrated curriculum is available to all its K-12 independent study students. Optional onsite, multi-grade classes support home study students with a main lesson, and specialty classes, including; visual & performing arts, world languages, field science with sustainable practices. The school is located on the beautiful and historic 5000 acre Ridgewood Ranch, Home of Seabiscuit, on Highway 101, between Ukiah and Willits California.
Through the course of a week, the requirements of this job would be to teach one or two classes to a small group in grades 9 through 11. Maintaining a positive, dynamic environment is highly valued. Meeting with students individually, reviewing and assigning their independent study courses, along with other special projects fill the rest of the week such as testing coordination.
Qualifications:
- Possessing a California Credential, a Multiple Subject K-12 enclosed classroom is preferred. or a Single Subject Credential or an Intern Credential is acceptable.
- Expertise in Language Arts, or Social Studies, and comfortable with basic Mathematics, Spanish, Art and Theater are also desireable.
- Brings a variety of interests to the school.
- Demonstrated success in creating a differentiated and collaborative classroom.
- Willingness to further training in Waldorf Methods and other educational techniques.
Details:
.80 FTE to Full Time. Salary is negotiable $39 - $42 per hour,with desired experience. Health and Retirement Benefits accrue with a 20 hour a week position.
Starts the week of Aug 10 for a few hours of systems training. Full faculty in-service the week of Aug 17. Parent-student orientation week of Aug.24, with the first day of school Aug. 28.
