ADU Express is a high-velocity design-build firm specializing in ADU development for multifamily properties across Los Angeles. We are part of a larger real estate holding company, meaning we build for our own portfolio—not third-party clients. This structure gives interns rare exposure to both the construction operations and real estate investment sides of the business, working in a fast-paced and hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in all phases of architectural design, from conceptual development to construction documentation.
- Conduct site measurements and coordinate preliminary communications with clients.
- Develop site plans, floor plans, elevations, and detailed sections using Revit, Bluebeam, and other industry-standard software.
- Create presentation materials including diagrams, 3D models, and renderings.
- Collaborate closely with senior designers, project managers, and consultants to ensure the design intent is maintained and project goals are achieved.
- Research and interpret zoning codes, building codes, and entitlement requirements, particularly for multifamily residential projects.
- Assist in coordinating with consultants across disciplines (structural, MEP, civil) to integrate architectural design seamlessly.
- Support client presentations and actively contribute to internal and external design discussions.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and assist in quality control to ensure compliance with office standards and project requirements.
- Adhere to office policies, maintain punctuality, and contribute to a respectful and professional work environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field.
- 2–5+ years of professional experience in architectural design, preferably with multifamily residential projects.
- Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering software.
- Solid understanding of building systems, construction methods, and applicable codes.
- Strong design sensibility and graphic communication skills.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and work across multiple projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Responsible, punctual, and respectful of office protocols and expectations.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with entitlement and permitting processes, especially within Los Angeles County.
- Bilingual abilities such as Spanish are a plus.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 - $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
