We are looking for an innovative Civil, resident engineer, focused in the construction field, to design, develop and construct a huge range of projects such as designing shelter replacements, road improvements, roofing replacements, facility structural improvements, and facility modernization. Projects will include performing construction oversight for projects in support of design and resident engineers, and report project progress and issues against project goals, scope of work, and schedule.
The Civil Resident Engineer will join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team supporting the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Headquarters in Washington D.C.
This is a full time travel position/business travel is 100%. The resident engineer will need to be on project sites. Travel and meals paid for. Candidates may live anywhere within the United States.
Candidate must obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance. Clearance requirements include U.S. citizen or valid green card holder who has lived in the U.S. consecutively the past 3 years.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare summary trip reports within two working days of trip completion.
- Compile and complete project documents.
- Provide technical engineering support for all phases of assigned new construction and renovation projects (i.e. evaluate shop drawings, design proposals, and interpret the technical requirements for adherence to contract documents).
- Participate in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) on all assigned projects and provide recommended resolutions on all items relating to engineering.
- Perform engineering studies for feasibility and cost versus benefit.
- Provide technical input to the Government Technical Interpreter in actions to plan, budget, program, and coordinate the development of engineering projects.
- Develop project drawings in accordance with the FAA Standard/guidelines.
Required Experience & Skills
Knowledge of multiple of the following, Unstaffed Infrastructure Sustainment (UIS) facilities:
- Metal equipment towers
- Commercial/Industrial Structures
- Roof Replacements
- Emergency and battery backup systems
- Small HVAC systems
- Remote site work Road design
- Concrete Site grading Equipment shelters
- Concrete foundations
- Structural Environmental permitting (NEPA, ARAP, stormwater, etc)
- Lightning protection and grounding
- Hazmat (Pb, Asbestos) abatement
- Construction risk management
- Utility layout design: water, power, comm, sewer
- Knowledge of Project management software (CWP, Primavera, Microsoft Project, etc) and/ or Computer-aided design (AutoCAD, Microstation).
Education
- BS degree in Civil Engineering from a 4-year ABET-accredited College/University with 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Master's Degree with 2 to 6 years experience.
- Relevant experience as a Project Engineer and/or Resident Engineer with Civil Engineering Design and a minimum of 2 years experience with tower, shelter and similar structure projects.
