LOCATION: Adult Education Program - Multiple Locations
SCHEDULE: Flexible AM/PM schedule @ 3 hours per class, up to 4 classes per day

BASIC FUNCTION:
To instruct adults in general high school equivalency diploma preparation. Support overall program effectiveness following National and New York State Recording Systems, as defined by NYSED.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To instruct adults (18 years and older) in high school equivalency preparation within a classroom setting.
- Implement consistent data collection procedures, check data accuracy, establish follow-up strategies, and follow assessment procedures.
- Support student creation of short-term and long-term goals as required by NYSED.
- Record student achievements over multiple years.
The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
Job Qualifications
- Valid NYS teacher certification or be able to meet requirements for the Adult Education certificate. Requirements for the certificate are listed on the homepage of the NYS Education Department Teaching Certification under “Certification Requirements” in the category of “Other School Service–Literacy & GED Preparation Instructor” http://eservices.nysed.gov/teach/certhelp/CertRequirementHelp.do
- Experience working with students in alternative school settings.
- Must possess good written and verbal skills
- Working knowledge and understanding of the ASISTS Data Management System desirable.
