Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Lead Climber to join our Tree Care Division team. The Lead Climber plays a critical role in tree care operations by performing advanced tree climbing and arboricultural work with minimal supervision. This position requires mastery of climbing techniques, safe use of equipment, and the ability to train and mentor entry-level Climbers. The Lead Climber also operates boom trucks and aerial lifts to perform tree pruning, removals, and related tasks, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Salary Range: $29 - $34 per hour, depending on experience.

Job Responsibilities: The responsibilities for this job include, but are not limited to:
· Perform advanced tree climbing work for pruning and removals with minimal supervision.
· Safely navigate around trees, structures, utility wires, and other obstacles.
· Demonstrate proficiency with climbing gear, ropes, rigging systems, and advanced knot-tying techniques.
· Confidently operate chainsaws of all sizes while aloft.
· Execute advanced pruning and cutting techniques for tree health, structure, and removal.
· Tie off and lower large branches and trunk sections using proper rigging methods.
· Communicate precise rigging and safety commands to the ground crew.
· Fell trees safely and efficiently, including trees over 50–100 feet in height.
· Inspect, set up, and operate boom trucks and aerial lifts in accordance with safety protocols.
· Perform pruning and removals from aerial lift equipment, ensuring clear communication with the ground team.
· Serve as a leader and role model by assisting with the training and development of entry-level Climbers.
· Exhibit strong situational awareness and self-reliance to perform complex tree work independently.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in professional tree climbing and advanced arboricultural practices.
- Proficient in all climbing gear, rigging systems, and advanced climbing techniques.
- Strong knowledge in pruning standards, and safe removal practices.
- Skilled in chainsaw operation (all sizes) and advanced cutting techniques.
- Ability to operate and inspect boom trucks and aerial lift devices safely.
- Strong communication and leadership skills for directing crews and training team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in challenging environments, including heights of 50–100 feet.
- High level of independence, responsibility, and situational awareness.
