Trails West Gate Company is seeking a dependable Welder Helper to support daily shop and field operations. This role assists welders with material preparation, equipment setup, fabrication support, and cleanup. The right person works safely, follows directions well, and takes pride in quality workmanship while helping build and install gates, fences, and related products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist welders with preparation, setup, and cleanup for welding and fabrication tasks
- Hold, position, and secure materials, tools, and components during fitting and welding
- Gather, organize, and stage materials for production and installation work
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and other shop tools as authorized
- Perform basic welding and fabrication tasks under the direction of a qualified welder
- Support rigging, lifting, and material handling activities
- Measure, mark, and inspect workpieces to confirm proper fit and job specifications
- Assist with the fabrication, assembly, and installation of gates, fences, and custom metal products
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment
- Complete other duties as assigned to support shop and field operations
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of welding, fabrication, or machining tools and techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions accurately
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, stand for extended periods, and lift heavy materials
- Good hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and proper equipment use
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Previous shop, welding, or construction experience is preferred but not required
Work Environment
This position works in a shop and outdoor jobsite environment. The role involves exposure to heat, sparks, noise, dust, and heavy materials. Safe work habits are required at all times.
