Mackinac Straits Health System is searching for applicants who are interested in being trained on the job to become a certified medical assistant. You will be paid $17.00 per hour while you are in our program, and then move to a full time position as a CMA once you complete the program and pass your certification exam.
Responsibilities of a CMA include:
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
- Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urine tests
- Prepare and sterilize medical instruments and equipment
- Assist with patient education and provide instructions for at-home care
- Schedule appointments and manage patient records
Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a medical assistant training program preferred
- Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
