Swiss Setup Machinist – 1st Shift

Pay - $25-35/hr (Based on experience + skill)
Pro Resources is currently seeking a Swiss Setup Machinist for a temp-to-hire opportunity with a reputable precision manufacturing company in Columbia City, IN. The ideal candidate will have intermediate to advanced Swiss machining experience; however, a strong entry-level candidate with solid CNC experience, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to learn quickly may also be considered.
Schedule:
- 1st Shift: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, Monday–Friday
- Straight 8-hour paid shift with a 30-minute lunch
- Overtime is currently limited, typically five hours or less per week
- Overtime may involve working 9-hour days after training is completed
- Training generally takes approximately 30–60 days
Pay:
- $25.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience and skill level
Job Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Star and Citizen Swiss-style CNC lathes
- Complete setups involving bar feeders, guide bushings, tooling, and offsets
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T callouts
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
- Use micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, comparators, and other precision measuring tools
- Adjust feeds, speeds, offsets, and tooling to maintain tight tolerances
- Monitor production for tool wear, quality issues, and out-of-tolerance conditions
- Perform tool changes, insert indexing, and minor tooling modifications
- Complete job travelers, inspection records, and production documentation
- Troubleshoot setup, tooling, and machining issues
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S standards
- Work closely with Quality and Engineering on new jobs and process improvements
- Assist with training less-experienced machinists as needed
Qualifications:
- Two or more years of Swiss-style CNC lathe experience is strongly preferred
- Experience with Star, Citizen, Tsugami, or similar Swiss equipment is a plus
- Ability to independently complete setups from raw material through first-piece approval is highly preferred
- Strong entry-level candidates with CNC machining experience and the ability to grow into independent setups may be considered
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
- Experience holding tight tolerances
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience machining titanium, stainless steel, or cobalt chrome is a plus
- Medical device, aerospace, or other regulated manufacturing experience is preferred
