You'll work in our NW Portland fine jewelry store, delivering exceptional service to customers who love our brand and products as much as you do.
You will be expected to:
- Be the positive, inviting, helpful face for the Fiina shop and Betsy & Iya brand.
- Have a basic working knowledge of basic jewelry terms: metal types, gemstones, styles, etc., and an excitement for learning a lot more.
- Be an attentive listener who is able to discern what a customer is interested in, even if they have trouble expressing it.
- Use rich vocabulary to describe our jewelry in order to enhance the customer connection to our goods, putting words to things our customers can see and feel but may not be able to articulate.
- Initiate try-ons in a fun, low-pressure way that gets our pieces into the hands of customers who might otherwise not initiate a try-on.
- Pair/stack/layer multiple fine jewelry pieces, often in unexpected and unique ways, to delight customers who are considering a purchase with multiple pieces.
- Have an eye towards design that allows you to visualize and describe modifications of our current designs in order to offer jewelry that meets the individual needs of our customers if items from our ready to wear line aren't exactly what they're looking for.
- Make decisions on the spot based on a deep understanding of our policies, and know when to seek help.
- Adeptly use a computerized point of sale system.
- Use an arc welder to attach permanent jewelry (on-site training provided).
- Embrace on-going learning about our products, policies, and services.
- Maintain a clean, organized, well-stocked, accessible, and attractive shop environment.
- Carry and balance large and heavy display trays of jewelry at the opening and closing time of every shift.
Minimum requirement of 15 hours per week with the potential for more based on your availability and our needs. This position is solely on the sales floor - jewelry production is not a part of this position.
A minimum of 2-years, uninterrupted, relevant applicable experience with one employer (providing consistently awesome customer service, preferably in a retail/fashion/accessories environment) is a requirement of this position. Experience selling/working with jewelry, especially fine jewelry, is a major plus.
This position could grow into full-time if there is interest and a business need. If you are offered the job, you will be required to sign a Proprietary Information, Invention Assignment, and Non-Solicitation Agreement and show proof of full COVID vaccination as conditions of employment.
The right candidate will be able to:
- Work a schedule that includes a regular shift on Saturdays plus at least one other day of the week. Shifts are typically 10:30 am - 6:15 pm.
- Work a consistent schedule that generally does not vary from week to week.
- Occasionally pick up additional shifts (sometimes after typical shop hours) in order to work special events or cover for coworkers.
- Work consistent shifts during the holiday season from mid-November to December 24 as well as the week following Christmas. Time off during these time periods is not impossible, but is considered only if sufficient shift coverage can be arranged.
- Master multiple systems with many layers related to our point of sale system, inventory tracking, pulling goods for online orders, customer communication, etc.
- Drive sales using oral and written communication, reaching out to customers to initiate and follow up on sales.
