Medical Billing Specialist (Part-Time, Contract)

About Us: Gray Physical Therapy is a community focused outpatient physical therapy clinic. We are searching for a new medical billing specialist who can provide outstanding service from the moment they walk through the door.
Job Description: We are seeking a part-time Medical Billing Specialist to join our team as an independent contractor. This hybrid role offers flexibility, combining remote work with periodic in-office hours. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of outpatient medical billing and coding, particularly within the physical therapy setting.
Responsibilities:
- Submit accurate and timely claims to insurance companies
- Verify insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations as needed
- Review and code patient encounters using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve billing issues
- Post payments and reconcile patient accounts
- Communicate with insurance providers and patients regarding billing matters
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain accurate records
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in medical billing and coding (physical therapy experience preferred)
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines (Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers)
- Proficiency in billing software and EHR systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Billing/coding certification preferred (e.g., CPB, CPC)
