Sewing Instructor Elementary School Program | Ages 7–9 on Mondays
Job Overview
Mani Mina is looking for a warm, creative, and enthusiastic Sewing & Doll-Making Instructor to lead an engaging after-school sewing and craft program for children ages 7–9 on Mondays.
Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed and ready to teach, with beginner-friendly projects that allow children to learn simple sewing techniques while customizing and creating for their own fabric dolls. All dolls used in class are pre-sewn, so students focus on accessible sewing, decorating, clothing, and personalization projects rather than constructing dolls from scratch.
We provide a complete curriculum and project framework, while also encouraging instructors to bring their own creativity and personality to the classroom. The ideal instructor enjoys working with children, loves making things by hand, and can create a fun, encouraging environment where students feel proud of what they make.
Responsibilities
- Teach our beginner-friendly sewing and craft curriculum to children ages 7–9.
- Guide students through simple hand-sewing, doll customization, and creative craft projects.
- Demonstrate techniques clearly and patiently, adapting your instruction to different skill levels.
- Encourage children to explore their own creativity and make projects that feel uniquely theirs.
- Create a positive, welcoming classroom environment where students feel comfortable trying new things and learning from mistakes.
- Provide individual guidance and encouragement as students work on their projects.
- Help students develop basic sewing skills, confidence, patience, and pride in craftsmanship.
- Maintain an organized workspace and ensure that appropriate safety practices are followed when using sewing tools and materials.
- Prepare materials and help with classroom setup and cleanup as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with children, ideally ages 7–9, in a classroom, camp, workshop, or creative program.
- Comfortable with basic sewing and craft techniques.
- Previous experience teaching sewing is a plus, but a professional teaching background is not required.
- Patient, warm, creative, and comfortable guiding young children through hands-on projects.
- Able to explain simple techniques clearly and keep children engaged and motivated.
- Reliable, organized, and comfortable managing a small group of students.
- A genuine enthusiasm for sewing, crafting, dolls, or other creative arts.
About the Role
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves both creativity and working with children. You don't need to be an expert seamstress, the projects are designed for beginners, and the curriculum and materials are provided. What matters most is your ability to connect with children, teach patiently, and make the classroom feel inspiring and fun.
Join Mani Mina and help children discover the joy of making something beautiful with their own hands—while building creativity, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for craftsmanship.
