Job Summary
The Sanitation Supervisor position is a sanitation-based member of the Production Department. The Sanitation Supervisor position is chiefly responsible for cleaning and sanitizing Joyce Farms poultry production plant to meet Quality Control standards imposed by applicable government agencies, such as USDA.
Duties
Below is a brief outline of the essential job functions and duties, which may be adjusted by management from time to time.
1. Supervise Sanitation Technicians to ensure task are being completed in a timely and correct manor in conjunction with completing Sanitation duties, to include but not limited to:
a. Supervise and ensure all equipment is ready for operations. This includes assisting with Pre-Operational Sanitation Inspection, preparing ice for slaughter, ensuring tubs and racks are ready for use (this includes labeling the tubs)
b. Clean and sanitize processing areas after first shift processing is compete, to include walls, floors, ceilings and equipment
c. Pre-rinse, apply soap foam, and rinse assigned equipment and areas
d. Disassemble and reassemble equipment when necessary to configure for production operations
e. Squeegee floors and shovel excess product into condemn barrels
2. Comply with all lock out tag out procedures to safely deactivate assigned equipment.
3. Provide guidance and training to sanitation personnel to meet standards.
a. This requires expert proficiency on:
i. All sanitation machinery, including but not limited to the tub wash machine, pressure washer, sprayer/foamer
ii. Joyce Farms Standard Operating Procedures
4. Complete all paperwork daily to include sanitation records for USDA verification in an accurate manner.
a. Ensure records for daily sanitation inspections and up-and-over sanitation records are completed in the required timeframe.
5. Self-inspect areas for cleaning adequacy.
6. Complete condemned/inedible product discards in accordance with Offal procedures (denaturant).
7. Maintain positive communications with and provide required support to sanitation personnel to ensure continuity of plant operations.

a. Manage sanitation technicians time to limit their overtime.
3. Respond to sanitation personnel issues and report to Human Resources and/or QA Manager when appropriate.
a. Carry out or assist with conducting appropriate disciplinary actions. (e.g. Counseling, Write-Up, Termination)

12. Prior sanitation experience.
13. Active Listening – Giving full attention to what Sanitation Personnel are saying, taking time to understand points being made, and asking questions as appropriate.

18. Will primarily work in a cold, wet environment, and must be able to transition from wet and cold to dry and dusty environments without issue.
19. May be required to lift, push, pull 50 pounds within an 8 hour or more period.

21. Must wear PPE such as safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection.
