Position Summary
3Point is seeking committed, student focused in-school tutors to support our Assist Zone programs across Boston-area partner schools. In this role, you will work directly with 6th grade students during the school day with a potential opportunity to work after school, providing focus on math support, while coaching using a warm and engaging approach. You will help maintain a structured, positive Assist Zone environment where students can progress, complete work assignments, build academic skills and confidence, and achieve their goals.
This is an in-person tutoring position with a weekly schedule of 18 hours, including tutoring, preparation, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Support students academically by providing one-on-one and small group tutoring in primarily math and at times various core subjects, helping students strengthen comprehension, complete assignments, and build effective study habits.
- Implement the Assist Zone model while helping to create a structured, calm, and encouraging space where students receive academic support, reflect on progress, and develop positive routines.
- Build meaningful relationships and serve as a consistent, caring adult who encourages students, holds them accountable, and helps them navigate academic challenges.
- Collaborate with school staff and communicate regularly with teachers, administrators, and 3Point leadership to align student needs and program goals.
- Track and report progress by maintaining accurate attendance, provide notes for each student, administer diagnostic testing before, during and at the end of the school year for the purpose of collecting data, analyzing trends, and contributing to weekly reporting decks.
- Support a positive school culture model while showing professionalism, empathy, and resilience when helping students build confidence and a sense of belonging.
- As this is a relatively new program, we ask you to be a thought partner in improving and evolving this program to ensure we provide the best possible experience for the students, teachers and school.
Qualifications
- Have experience working with youth in diverse, urban school settings
- Are passionate about equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices
- Are reliable, punctual, and able to commute to Boston-area schools
- Are comfortable using technology for data entry and communication
- Know how to build strong rapport, engage, and motivate students
- Are pursuing or have completed a college degree (2+ years required)
- Preferably have teaching experience or certification
- Are eligible to work in the U.S. and can pass a background check
