SUMMARY
The Building Engineer with an emphasis in plumbing is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and overseeing the building’s plumbing systems, ensuring all operations comply with safety, regulatory, and efficiency standards. This role combines general building engineering duties with specialized plumbing expertise to support the safe and efficient operation of building facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, including water supply lines, drains, fixtures, and piping systems.
- Monitor and troubleshoot plumbing-related issues (leaks, blockages, water pressure problems, etc.).
- Conduct preventative maintenance on all plumbing systems to reduce downtime and repair costs.
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors for large-scale plumbing projects or system upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal plumbing codes and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Assist with other building systems as needed, including HVAC, electrical, and general mechanical systems.
- Respond promptly to emergency plumbing issues to minimize disruption to building operations.
- Recommend improvements or upgrades to plumbing infrastructure for efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in plumbing, mechanical systems, or related field preferred.
- Journeyman or Master Plumber license preferred (if applicable per state regulations).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in building maintenance or plumbing systems, ideally in commercial or multi-family residential settings.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
