Read This If You're A Used Car Manager Who's Tired Of Fighting Your Own Store.
You know exactly what you'd buy if the checkbook were yours. You know which units are dead. You know the sales team is under-trading and over-promising. You know your GM won't back a real recon standard. And you're stuck watching a lot full of the wrong cars age past 60 days while the desk blames you for turn.
Come work somewhere that's actually going to run the used car department like a business.
What You'll Actually Do Here.
You will own it. Stocking, appraising, reconditioning, merchandising, pricing, and turning. If a car is on this lot with your name on it, you decided it belonged here and you're accountable for what happens to it.
But this is not a job where you hide in an office and stare at vAuto all day. You are on the floor. You are talking to customers, working trades in real time, structuring deals with the salespeople, and closing units yourself when the moment calls for it. You are a producer, not an administrator.
If that sounds like too much, this is not the job.
The Non-Negotiables.
- vAuto fluency. Live Appraisal, ProfitTime, Provision, the works. You should be able to sit down and show me how you'd price a 60-day-old unit without opening a manual.
- CRM discipline. VinSolutions is what we run. If you've used it, great. If you've used CDK Elead, DealerSocket, or something similar and can adapt fast, also fine. What is not fine is a manager who doesn't work leads, doesn't log activity, and doesn't hold the sales team accountable in the tool.
- Floor presence. You touch every deal. You know every guest. You are involved in the sale, not just the paperwork after.
- Trade walk mastery. You can appraise a car with a customer standing next to it and make them feel good about the number.
- Recon and wholesale relationships. You know what to fix, what to punt, and who to call when it's time to move a unit.
What We're Looking For.
- Someone who runs a department, not someone who reacts to one
- Someone who's competitive and actually keeps score
- Someone who reads the market weekly, not monthly
- Someone who coaches salespeople instead of yelling at them
- Someone customers like and salespeople respect
What We Offer.
Safford Auto Group runs 26 stores across Virginia, Maryland, and DC. That means real career mobility. Perform here and there are GSM and GM seats to grow into. It also means we have the infrastructure, the vendor relationships, and the buying power to actually support a used car department that wants to win.
We're also moving into a brand-new state-of-the-art facility next month. That means real display space for your inventory, a proper recon and photo workflow, and a merchandising setup that shows your cars off the way they deserve to be shown. If you know what a bad building costs you in gross and turn, you'll appreciate what this one is going to do for us.
