GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, a Porter is responsible for cleaning the building, helping with grounds, and maintaining the facility. This is a part-time position, we have day, evening, and night positions available.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrate a superior working knowledge of assigned area, and or have a general working knowledge of the facility.
- Must be able to create and maintain positive relationships with other staff, parents, participants, and volunteers within assigned activity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the facility is attractive and clean, by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintaining upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
- Operate motorized and non-motorized equipment.
- Record and report all needed repairs; repair as directed.
- Ensure the building and property is secure, and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor, when necessary.
- Replace soap, paper towels and other supplies.
- Plan and execute routine set-ups, breakdowns and installations for facility’s programming needs.
- Strip and wax floor and shampoo rugs as needed.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to remain standing and moving for extended periods of time
- Indoors and outdoors in normal environment with some exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes
- Mobility within the building including movement from floor to floor and outside the building
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs. on a repetitive basis
- May handle human body fluids and chemicals as part of the daily operational duties.
EFFECT ON END RESULT:
- The YMCA will meet or exceed all local, state and federal safety guidelines in regards to facilities, grounds and equipment.
- The YMCA will have an effective long term capital replacement and project plan in place.
- The YMCA facilities will be updated and expanded to meet the needs of a growing population.
