Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting occupational therapists in providing high-quality patient care within the homecare setting. The COTA will work closely with patients to help them achieve their rehabilitation goals through therapeutic activities and interventions.
Responsibilities
- Assist occupational therapists in implementing treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Provide direct patient care, ensuring safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support effective treatment strategies.
- Document patient progress and communicate updates to the occupational therapist.
- Maintain an organized schedule and communication with patients.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary care discussions.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and home programs to enhance recovery.
- Support patients in achieving their goals related to daily living activities, mobility, and overall function.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience in occupational health or a similar setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to patient care is essential.
- Experience working in home health, skilled nursing facilities or inpatient environments is advantageous.
- A strong understanding of anatomy and physiology as it relates to rehabilitation practices is required.
- Demonstrated ability to assist patients effectively while promoting independence and dignity.
