Job Overview
This is a full-time on-site role for a Custodian located in Rockford, MN. The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in school facilities, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas. Daily tasks include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and waste disposal. The role involves monitoring and restocking cleaning supplies, ensuring compliance with safety and health standards, minor maintenance tasks, and assisting with setting up spaces for events and activities as needed. The Custodian plays a key part in providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Basic cleaning skills, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste disposal
- General maintenance and minor repair skills
- Understanding of safety and sanitation procedures
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
- Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, students, and visitors
- Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks
- Prior experience in custodial work is a plus, but not required
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Able to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds.
- Proven experience in cleaning, janitorial work, or custodial services within educational, commercial, or industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques including floor care (buffing, stripping), commercial cleaning methods, and basic maintenance skills.
- Ability to operate custodial equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, pressure washers, and other industrial cleaning tools safely and effectively.
- Experience with residential painting or facilities maintenance is a plus but not required.
- Excellent attention to detail with a proactive attitude toward maintaining cleanliness standards.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects safely, and perform manual tasks efficiently.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. - Preferred to have or be able to obtain a special class boiler's license within 6 months (increases pay $.15/hour).
- Preferred to have or be able to obtain a 2nd class boiler's license within 18 months (increases pay $.25/hour).
- Have a valid driver's license.
- Applicants will participate in a background check and provide proof of legal right to work in the United States.
Pay: $21.13 - $24.93 per hour
