We are seeking a maintenance technician for an apartment complex in Hammond. Pay will depend on qualifications and experience. You must submit a resume for consideration.
Position Overview:
Responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds as directed by management.
Essential Job Functions:
- Respond to resident requests for maintenance service in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Repair and maintain simple electrical circuits, switches, outlets and lighting fixtures.
- Install and repair carpeting and tile.
- Repair, install and maintain basic plumbing fixtures such as lavatories, toilets, and dishwashers.
- Maintain lawns, grounds, landscaping and parking lots including snow removal.
- Repair and maintain building exteriors and roofs.
- Cleaning and housekeeping of common areas and vacant units.
- Repair and painting of vacant units.
- Perform emergency repairs.
- Recognize limitations of experience or training and know when to get the maintenance supervisor or more qualified technician involved.
- Comply with the company’s and the community’s operating and safety policies and procedures and adhere to federal, state and local laws pertaining to the operation of the community.
- Comply with all fair housing laws.
- Foster and maintain positive resident relations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Carpentry Skills
- Experience in the Maintenance Field Preferred
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
- Able to work overtime and emergency call in.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to read and comprehend the English language.
- HVAC troubleshooting and repair.
