The Manufacturing Engineer (Weld) is to be skilled in manufacturing systems and the various welding processes. Responsibilities include creating quotes, processes, and procedures for high-quality in-house fabrication. Understanding of CNC programming and/or industrial robot programming is a plus. This role bridges design engineering and manufacturing, driving innovative solutions and smooth operations.
The duties shall include but not be limited to the following:
- Manages all welding related customer requirements within the assigned manufacturing teams and associated support departments. Ensure compliance of Welding Procedures and Welders Certifications.

Demonstrate knowledge of welding specifications, welding general knowledge, welding processes, basic material science and knowledge of the various weld testing techniques.
- Participate in various support meetings to include, but not limited to customer complaint resolution, new product development, design review, engineering/ production and project meetings as necessary.
- Work with Engineering and Sales Departments in establishing quotes for existing, new or special products including welding-related design requirements.
- Participates in cross-functional teams responsible for the development of new products and processes required to exceed customer expectations.

Work with Engineering, Sales, Cost and Purchasing Departments to determine ways to reduce costs of products.

Prepare or update operation sheets (routings) describing the sequence of manufacturing processes, work centers and tooling to be used for various operations.
- Monitor job orders to determine if latest engineering revision changes or shop floor changes have been updated on operation sheets and/or tooling records prior to orders being released.

Perform and log contract reviews as needed.

Understand customer requirements and specifications during review.

Assist foreman, setup men or operators with any problem jobs or first run-offs with new or special tooling or processes. Trouble shoot production related issues and ensure quality standards are met.

Complete Non-Conformity Reports (NCR) for dispositions, root cause and corrective actions per Hilliard Quality Manual standards.
Requirements:

Minimum AS Degree in Welding, current CWI certification or equivalent work experience.

Familiar with various welding processes, automation and weld inspection techniques.

Working knowledge of a Welding Code such as ASME, AWS, API or Bridge construction code.
- Accepts direction and projects from Lead Manufacturing Engineer.
- Fosters cooperative and open communication will all personnel and departments.

Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office; experience with AS400 and Infor is a plus.
