Golf Course & HOA Common Areas
Position Summary
The Irrigation Manager is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and overall management of the golf course irrigation system, as well as irrigation systems serving HOA common areas within a residential community. This position plays a critical role in maintaining optimal turf health, landscape quality, and water efficiency across both the golf course and community common property.
Working closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and community management, the Irrigation Manager ensures consistent course conditions, attractive HOA landscaping and responsible water management practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Golf Course Irrigation Management
- Operate and manage the central irrigation control system for the golf course.
- Schedule irrigation programs based on turf requirements, weather data, soil conditions, and upcoming play.
- Monitor pump station performance and maintain proper system pressure.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation heads, valves, piping, wiring, and controllers.
- Maintain and update irrigation maps and system documentation.
HOA Common Area Irrigation
- Oversee irrigation systems serving all HOA common areas including entrances, medians, landscaped buffers, and community green spaces.
- Monitor landscape watering schedules to ensure plant health while minimizing water waste.
- Inspect and repair irrigation heads, drip lines, valves, and controllers in common areas.
- Coordinate with HOA management regarding landscape concerns or water usage issues.
- Ensure gate entrances and high-visibility community areas maintain premium appearance standards.
Preventative Maintenance
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for both golf course and HOA irrigation systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of pump stations, filtration systems, wells, and water sources.
- Perform seasonal system adjustments and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts inventory, and system upgrades.
Water Management & Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor weather data and soil moisture to optimize water usage.
- Adjust irrigation scheduling to conserve water and support turf and landscape health.
- Ensure compliance with local and state water management district regulations.
- Assist with water usage reporting and documentation for both golf operations and HOA requirements.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
- Serve as point of contact for irrigation contractors, pump specialists, and suppliers.
- Obtain and review bids for repairs or system improvements.
- Supervise contractor work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance.
- Assist in planning long-term irrigation upgrades or expansions.
Team Collaboration & Support
- Train and assist grounds staff in basic irrigation troubleshooting.
- Support drainage repairs and course construction projects.
- Respond promptly to emergency irrigation issues, including after-hours situations when necessary.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of golf course irrigation experience preferred.
- Experience managing large-scale irrigation systems in residential or HOA environments is highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of central control systems (Toro, Rain Bird, etc.).
- Knowledge of pump station operations and water management systems.
- Ability to read irrigation blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment
This position requires extensive outdoor work, early morning hours, occasional weekends, and availability for emergency repairs. The role supports both a golf course environment and residential community common area, requiring professionalism, responsiveness, and strong communication skills.
Pay: $70,000.00 per year
