Home-based casework services for families in Marion County involved with DCS, We are currently seeking in-home services that are high quality, family centered, and culturally competent. They should be effective in reducing maltreatment, improving care taking, and coping skills, enhancing family resilience, supporting healthy and nurturing relationships, and children's physical, mental, emotional, and educational well-being. Home-Based Casework Services should help to safely maintain children in their homes (or foster home); prevent children's initial placement or reentry into foster care; preserve, support, and stabilize families; and promote the well-being of children, youth, and families. Home-based Caseworker Services provides any combination of the following kinds of services to the families as approved by DCS:
Home visits
Participation in DCS Case planning
Coordination of services
Conflict management
Emergency/crisis services
Child development education
Domestic violence education
Parenting education/training
Family communication
Facilitate transportation
Participation in Child and Family Team meetings
Family reunification/preservation
Family assessment
Community referrals and follow-up
Develop structure/time management
Budgeting/money management
Meal planning/preparation
Parent training with children present
Monitor Progress of Parenting Skills
Community Services Information
Job Requirements:
Reports directly to the Home-Based Casework Supervisor/Team Lead
Understands and follows all agency policies and procedures
Completes Diagnostic, Family, Risk and supplemental Assessments with youth and families as per contract terms
Assures an effective safety/crisis plan is in place for all identified safety concerns including family strengths and needs
Develops the Initial Treatment Plan with the DCS/FCM and provider team within the first thirty (30) days of program entry
Meets with the client or family at least weekly, or more frequently, based on the assessed needs of the client, to review the client’s and family’s progress toward treatment goals
Coordinates and monitors services for the client and/or family in the community, including but not limited to, mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services
Provides in-home supportive services, parenting education, community resource linkage and referral, advocacy and other social service intervention to families and children
Assists in family reunification and preservation efforts with all members of the primary family or other permanent plan consistent with the Initial Treatment Service Plan, Progress Notes, Monthly reporting , and Discharge Reports
Attends bi-weekly supervision meetings and actively participates in the supervision process
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school in Social Work (Licensed), Psychology, Sociology. Other Bachelor degrees will be accepted with 39 credit hours in human/behavioral/social services or education and two years of experience in the area of youth services, preferably with direct experience in the area of child welfare / juvenile justice
Must possess a valid driver license and the ability to use private car to transport self and others and must comply with the state policy concerning minimum car insurance coverage.
Qualifications
Direct workers under this standard must meet one of the following minimum qualifications:
a) Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Sociology, or licensed Bachelor Degree Social Worker or licensed Social Worker with a Baccalaureate Degree
(1) A license is required unless a statutory licensure exemption in IC 25-23.6-4-2(a) is met.
b) Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work; OR
c) Bachelor’ s or Master’ s degree in a directly related human services
field.
Other non-Human Service related Bachelor’s degrees will be accepted:
(1) Minimum of two years-experience
(a) Providing a service to families that need assistance in the protection and care of their children and/or providing skills training and development.
(i) Experience gained by an employee in which the employee was not qualified to complete the work at the current or previous employer does not count toward the required two (2) year experience in combination with a Bachelor’s degree.
