Position Summary
The UG Process Specialist is responsible for accurately submitting and managing utility locate tickets (811 requests) on behalf of contracting partners within assigned jurisdictions. This role ensures all locate requests are properly prepared, submitted, tracked, and communicated in alignment with state regulations, company standards, and customer requirements. This position serves as a key liaison between contracting partners, utility locating providers, and internal teams to support safe and efficient excavation activities.
What you will be doing:
- Submit accurate and timely utility locate requests (811 tickets) on behalf of contracting partners across assigned states, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and notification requirements.
- Review and interpret work plans, construction drawings, maps, and project details to determine accurate locate boundaries, work areas, and request parameters.
- Ensure all locate tickets are complete, accurate, and submitted in accordance with state-specific 811 requirements, utility standards, and damage prevention guidelines.
- Maintain detailed records of submitted tickets, updates, responses, and close-outs in the tracking system.
- Monitors locate ticket progress and proactively follow up with locating vendors, utilities, and internal teams to support timely completion.
- Communicate effectively with contracting partners regarding ticket status, required corrections, discrepancies, and additional information needed to complete requests.
- Coordinate with field teams and project managers to resolve issues related to locate scope or markings.
- Verify ticket information for accuracy, including address, scope of work, dig areas, timing, and other critical information.
- Support company damage prevention initiatives by ensuring locate requests are clear, complete, and compliant with applicable requirements.
- Assist with reporting and documentation related to locate activity, performance metrics, and vendor response times.
- Maintain current knowledge of state 811 regulations, utility locating requirements, industry standards, and internal procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
What You Need For This Position:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and external partners.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy, compliance, and quality standards.
- Ability to manage multiple locate requests simultaneously while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and coordinate solutions.
- Demonstrates reliability, accountability, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- May require after-hours and weekend work.
- This position is hybrid located in Evansville, IN.
