Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and quality standards
- Assist with meal preparation, ensuring timely delivery of dishes during busy service hours
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, fryers, slicers, and knives
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment in compliance with food safety standards
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and prevent contamination
- Support menu planning efforts by suggesting new ideas and ensuring consistency in food presentation
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate orders and ensure smooth workflow
- Adhere to safety standards in production, including proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Assist with catering events or special meal preparations as needed
Experience
- Previous food service experience in a restaurant or catering environment is highly preferred
- Experience working within dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and safe food handling procedures
- Demonstrated ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency in meal preparation
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen team members
- Familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Experience in menu planning or culinary arts is advantageous but not required
