I. Primary Responsibilities: You will work closely with our Engineering/Quality Manager on the quoting, design and launch of new parts in our production facility. You will also maintain our engineering systems.
II. Essential Functions:
- Maintains Engineering files (both electronic and hard copy) including initial design, inspection, and machine tool layout documents for new product launches as well as regular and ongoing updates and revisions.
- Draw detailed part drawings for new parts as well as updates to existing production parts in accordance with customer supplied design drawings and specifications.
- Assist in quoting new and existing jobs, by being the keeper of engineering data, recording data into the engineering master of the ERP, initial quoting for outside services such as plating, special materials.
- Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products
- Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
- Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process, and tests products for variety of qualities, such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
- May set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
- Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures, including any graphs required to support analysis.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Any additional duties as assigned by the Engineering/Quality Manager, including special projects to improve efficiency of the department or processes.
III. Qualifications and Requirements:
- Detail oriented, with a strong emphasis on quality, accuracy, and organization.
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- Must have a working knowledge of Solid Edge or other CAD system
- Able to use various measuring tools such as Micrometers, Comparators
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce.
- Must be able to prioritize and work under pressure/time constraints
- Ability to grow into a self-sufficient supervisory role in mid-term.
IV. Physical Requirements:
- Good vision.
- Requires ability to walk, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist.
- Repeated lifting and carrying of up to 40 lbs throughout the shift.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
V. Environmental Conditions:
- Administrative office environment with time on the shop floor as needed. Inside conditions include working on the shop floor in close proximity to running machines. Manufacturing environment with noise, oily floors, fumes.
- Requires eye protection, non-skid footwear, ear protection is suggested
