Star Import Service, Gainesville's only exclusively Mercedes-Benz and Sprinter independent repair shop, is now looking to hire a part- or full-time Automotive Service Master Technician with experience in Volkswagen and Audi to expand our service line to more German brands. We are beginning the process of in-person interviews.
Description: The Service Technician is responsible for accurately diagnosing, servicing and repairing vehicles as assigned by the Service Manager or Shop Foreman. Must have proficiency in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc. In addition, the Master Technician must perform the work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with Star Import Services' standards. Also responsible for test-driving vehicles, testing components and systems, while using diagnostic tools and other equipment. Must accurately communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be completely informed on their vehicle.
Job Type: Full-time: Business hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm.
Compensation: Starting at $25/hour, willing to pay more for experience. We offer full health benefits, a retirement package and have monthly bonus opportunities. As with industry standard, we are open to a commission type pay and other pay scales to compensate quality and volume.
Our Process: You will have a two part interview. One will be traditional conversation, the follow up interview will be an applied interview where you will be required to show some experience. We will then likely have a minimum of 0, up to a 90-day at will agreement, depending on experience.

Job Requirements of Star:
- Mercedes-Benz experience preferred, not required.
- Must have at least 5 years of experience as an Auto Technician (with references) OR a graduate from an accredited Auto Technician Program.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with 2 or less tickets in the last 3 years.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information.
- Knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance.
- Comfortable with computer diagnostic equipment.
- A fast learner.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour

Application Question(s):
- Imagine you are in a situation where the customer would like their vehicle back by 4pm. It is Friday at 115pm, 15 minutes past the last order window of the week. While you were working on their vehicle, you noticed several pieces of hardware were broken that will not allow the new parts to fit properly. Without the hardware, the customers vehicle will be back with the same or similar problem within the warranty period. Additionally, while testing the new part in the vehicle without the hardware, you noticed the customers check engine light is still present. You now have a vehicle that 1) needs more diagnosing, 2) is not fixed, 3) needs more parts, and 4) you have a customer wanting their vehicle back by the end of the day.
