Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal oral health for each patient.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures using specialized techniques suitable for children and adolescents.
- Utilize dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories.
- Support chairside assisting during various dental procedures by preparing instruments, managing infection control protocols, and maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to safety standards and radiation protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care strategies, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience in general dentistry and familiarity with dental office operations; experience in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and HIPAA compliance regulations.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort and workflow.
