Position Title: Production Manager

Compensation: $100,000 – $115,000
Position Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for the oversight of scheduling production to satisfy customer order demand and maintaining planned stock levels of both finished goods and components. This role ensures the efficient and effective operation of the facility by managing plant capacities, tracking resource allocation, and maintaining an accurate, balanced warehouse inventory.
Essential Functions
Cross-Functional Communication & Liaison
- Serves as the primary point of contact and operational liaison between sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments.
- Communicates directly with Production Supervisors, the Plant Manager, the Assistant Plant Manager, and other department leaders to ensure shift production goals are met.
- Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and related corporate business units.
Production Scheduling & Capacity Planning
- Collaborates across departments to establish master schedules and operational plans that allocate available resources to best serve client needs.
- Partners with Engineering and Maintenance department heads to coordinate and implement a planned preventative maintenance (PM) schedule.
- Coordinates closely with the Production Scheduler to ensure the completion of equipment PMs will not disrupt shipments or customer demands.
- Tracks daily production output and leverages historical data to assist with determining long-range capacity requirements and operation-wide inventory plans.
- Maintains the master distribution schedule for the facility, dynamically revising timelines as needed and alerting appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.
Inventory & Material Management
- Interacts daily with various departments to identify production needs and coordinate the transfer of required materials between departments to satisfy customer requirements.
- Compares current and anticipated orders with available inventories of raw materials, utilizing professional judgment to anticipate demand and acquire additional supplies before shortages occur.
- Identifies problematic inventory records or mismatched transactions, ensuring inventory balances are accurately maintained across all internal tracking systems.
- Tracks and reports on departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) overseen and monitored by management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience & Education
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in production scheduling, capacity planning, or a related manufacturing management field.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate degree is preferred.
Technical Tools & Proficiencies
- Systems Experience: Hands-on experience working within enterprise resource planning and manufacturing execution software, such as MRP/ERP systems (e.g., IQMS, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Software Tools: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, with required expertise in Word and Excel.
- Certifications: A forklift operator certification is preferred.
