Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Davenport / Setup Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Wabash, Indiana. In this role, you will be responsible for Davenport machines / Set up and maintenance of the machines.
Core Responsibilities:
- Leadership of the Davenport area, 2-3 operators including candidate.
- Running of machines is an expectation in this position.
- Set up and maintenance of the machines.
- Liasson to scheduling for these machines.
- Scheduling and participation in maintenance of Davenports.
Duties:
- Must be able to meet department productivity, quality and setup standards
- Must have a working knowledge of all machines within the Davenport department and be able to train new operators
- Must be proficient with and be able to teach all aspects of the job book documents; MSII, MPII, part travel tickets (pan Tags) and tool change sheets
- Must have a complete understanding of the 3- pan process and able to teach it
- Must be proficient with First Piece approval process
- Must have a thorough working knowledge of machining practices with the ability to incorporate cost-effective improvements throughout the department
- Required to maintain setup sheets, durable and perishable tooling layouts
- Responsible for utilizing department perishable and durable inventory
- Responsible for cleaning machine sumps and keeping coolant screens free of debris
- Capable and willing to assist with department maintenance repairs
- Must be capable of facilitating and teaching tooling changes, and adjustments while maintaining the operation of machining equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Must be capable of following and teaching operational procedures to perform all machining functions such as a drill, turn, mill, bore, thread mill, thread form, tap, groove, chamfer, profile, and taper machining brass, stainless steel and various grades of steel
- Must have an understanding of blueprints and job layout prints including length, diameters, perpendicularity, parallelism, concentricity and surface finishes
- Must understand and comply with Quality Red Tag Policy and Procedures
- Must be proficient at reading and teaching part prints and tool layout drawings
- Must be proficient at reading and teaching operators how to read all measuring devices necessary to generate good parts
- Completes all daily production sheets, records, forms, Amper & Altegra electronic data entry as required
- Must be able to train operators on how to operate and setup all department equipment
- Must be capable of performing and teaching P.M. maintenance, identify equipment malfunctions and initiate repairs on equipment as needed
Quality Control:
- Checks machined parts visually and dimensionally according to GPP quality standards
- Must have competent math skills and be able to add/subtract fractions, decimals, calculate SFM, RPM and feed rates
- Must be able to read various types of inspection gages, optical comparator, digital or manual micrometers, calipers, 6” rule, and dial indicators

- Must be able to lead, assist and train other team members with department operations, housekeeping, quality standards, safety and work habits within the plant
- Must be self-motivated with a consistent work ethic managing break times, lunch period and cell phone use
- Must be a team player that is a responsible and respected individual and must treat fellow co-workers with respect
- Must be quality minded and production driven taking responsibility for the parts produced in the assigned work cell
- Must be 100% in control of mental functions / physical abilities and not be under the influence of illegal drugs or medication during assigned work hours
- Must follow direction as given by management team to complete whatever task GPP needs to be done at that current time
- Must be able to work scheduled department hours
Job Requirements:
- Must be willing to relocate to Wabash Indiana. Relocation assistance is available.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Good hand to eye coordination including vision abilities with peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
- Must have own lockable toolbox and designated hand tools
- Must have a valid driver’s license along with reliable transportation to and from work.
- Wears protective equipment such as safety eye glasses, hearing protection, and safety-toe boots
Must provide United States work authorization
Pay: Up to $35.00 per hour
