American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of acute care experience with at least 1 year of PCU experience and a valid OH or compact RN license.

Mixed acuity surgical oncology unit caring for both PCU and Med Surg patients
-
Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses in surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics/reconstructive cancers
-
Specialized care includes chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, cytokine release syndrome management, insulin drips, and heparin drips
-
Heavy focus on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols

Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be up to 1:5
-
Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)

Contract may involve rotating day/night shifts based on department needs, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period

Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs with no set or blocked scheduling

Floating required within scope of practice

Epic EMR experience required

Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

ONS Chemo certification preferred

Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months
-
At least 1 year of PCU experience required

Oncology experience preferred but not required
-
Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
-
Skills in respiratory care, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), and tracheostomy care preferred
-
Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management required
-
Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Provide direct patient care on a busy surgical oncology floor with mixed PCU and Med Surg acuity

Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice encouraged

Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
