Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide expert mental health assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans for a diverse patient population, for adults. You will collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and case managers to deliver comprehensive care that addresses both psychological and physical health needs. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives through innovative mental health services. This is a contracted position, 1099.
Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments utilizing clinical research methods and physiological knowledge to develop personalized treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications in accordance with HIPAA regulations, DEA guidelines, and collaborative practice agreements, ensuring safe and effective pharmacologic management.
- Administer or oversee botulinum toxin treatments, dermal fillers, esthetic laser procedures, and other advanced therapeutic interventions to enhance patient well-being.
- Manage acute pain and behavioral health issues by implementing evidence-based interventions such as IV infusion therapy, spinal taps, or ventilator management when necessary.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation, medical records management, and coding using ICD-10/ICD-9 standards.
- Provide telehealth services to expand access to mental health care across diverse settings while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and utilization review to optimize patient outcomes across inpatient and outpatient environments.
Skills
- Proven experience working with children, geriatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities in settings such as assisted living facilities or nursing homes.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare diagnosis including psychiatric conditions, infectious disease care, and acute & intensive care protocols.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with telehealth platforms is highly desirable.
- Skilled in performing physical examinations, vital signs assessment, medication administration, venipuncture, catheter care, and sterile techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for triage calls, patient education on psychopharmacology or nutrition counseling, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to handle complex cases involving trauma center experience or emergency medicine procedures like airway management or cardiac catheterization when needed.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law and hospice & palliative medicine practices is a plus for comprehensive patient support.
