Job Title: Laborer
Work Schedule: Day shift, flexible hours. Overtime as required.
Full or Part Time: Full time only
Reports to: Aggregate Mine supervisor
Salary: $20.00 - $23.00
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs tasks such as mud picking (picks large chunks of mud from rock/material) before it reaches shaker screens, shovel, and pull weeds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This job is 100% outside in all types of weather.
Fifty percent of time is standing picking mud off of conveyer.
Fifty percent of time is shoveling and twisting and picking material out from under machinery.
Maintenance work such as: Climbing up and down ladders, wrenching and lifting screens. Maintenance in checking oil/greasing machinery.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Maintain general plant housekeeping according to Company standards.
- Operate mobile equipment, when necessary
- Operate the portable vac unit.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on mobile equipment.
- Perform inventory measurements and reporting as required
- Perform necessary tasks to ensure good housekeeping for safe and efficient operation.
- Work with little or no supervision
- Write and/or contribute to daily reports and other routine reports about special projects or incidents
- Perform all other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Work any shifts, including weekends and aid holidays as schedules dictate.
- Use hand tools to repair equipment, Jack hammer, broom, shovel, pick as directed.
- Be punctual and have good attendance
- Have reliable transportation
- Self-motivated reliable team player
- Be capable of standing 10-12 hours per shift and handle heavy lifting.
- Receive verbal instructions from Supervisor, Leadman, or Operator
- Read instruction reports and instructions.
- Perform all job tasks according to plant safety standards and wear required PPE at all times.
- Participate in yearly training, as directed by management / HR.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to learn the methods and practices used in the Pits.
- Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
- No special license required.
- Knowledge of MSHA rules and regulations
- Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task.
- Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work 6 days a week.
- Bi-lingual a plus
- No previous experience required. But experience in aggregate / construction industry is a plus.
- Applicants must be safety-minded, with a strong work ethic and desire to grow professionally in the skilled trades.
