Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Experienced Tax Preparer
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and client-focused CPA or experienced Tax Preparer to prepare individual and business tax returns, provide tax planning services, build lasting client relationships, and grow their own book of business. Key ResponsibilitiesTax Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for:
- Individuals (Form 1040)
- Partnerships (Form 1065)
- S Corporations (Form 1120-S)
- C Corporations (Form 1120)
- Trusts and Estates (Form 1041)
- Nonprofit organizations (if applicable)
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Identify tax-saving opportunities and strategies for clients.
- Research and resolve tax-related issues and notices from taxing authorities.
- Maintain accurate client records and workpapers.
Client Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients.
- Gather and analyze financial information and documentation.
- Communicate tax planning recommendations and filing requirements.
- Provide exceptional customer service and timely follow-up.
- Build long-term relationships through proactive communication and professional guidance.
Business Development
- Develop and grow a personal book of business through networking, referrals, marketing, and community involvement.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, advisory, and tax planning services.
- Participate in business development initiatives and client acquisition efforts.
- Represent the firm professionally at networking events and industry functions.
- Meet established client retention and growth objectives.
Tax Planning & Advisory
- Conduct year-round tax planning meetings.
- Advise clients on tax-efficient business and personal financial strategies.
- Assist business owners with entity selection, succession planning, and growth strategies.
- Stay informed regarding changes in tax laws and regulations.
QualificationsRequired
- CPA license in good standing or 3+ years of professional tax preparation experience.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations.
- Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
- Proficiency with tax software such as UltraTax, Drake, ProSeries, Lacerte, CCH, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines during peak tax season.
- Professional, client-service-oriented attitude.
Preferred
- EA (Enrolled Agent) designation.
- Experience with tax planning and advisory services.
- Existing client base or demonstrated ability to generate new business.
- Experience working with small business owners and high-net-worth individuals.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting systems such as QuickBooks.
