Lakeside Endocrine Associates is a specialty group practice, seeking a Full Time (40 hours) Referral Coordinator with certification as a Medical Assistant for our practice in Daytona Beach, FL. Pay rate is based on experience. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30AM-6:00PM
The Referral Coordinator schedules and pre-registers patients for exams prior to being seen by the providers. The role requires the individual to perform basic administrative, clerical, operational, customer support, and computational tasks.
Required Qualifications
· 2 years of hands-on healthcare experience in a clinical setting.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
· Proficient with medical terminology.
· Experience with Electronic Medical Records.
· Excellent professional communication abilities, at all levels within the organization and with patients, at all times.
Responsibilities:
· This position supports the clinical team and assists patients by managing referrals and authorizations in the EHR system.
· Use of electronic tools such as Availity, commercial payer websites or by calling insurance company to obtain relevant coverage.
· Retrieve referral requests in the EHR system and obtain all necessary supporting authorizations and referral documents prior to patient visit.
· Submit records to insurance companies and referring facilities as necessary to obtain authorizations.
· Inform new patients about the coverage information, including copays, deductibles and relate our office policy regarding the patient’s responsibility for office visits.
· Key responsibilities include coordinating patient follow-up, ensuring accurate insurance information, and effectively obtain referrals and preauthorization for new patients as well as the existing patient population.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT coding
· Familiar with athenaHealth EHR
· Medical Assistant or Professional State Certifications related to healthcare
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
